For years now, one of the major problems in India has been the Unemployment. Almost three months of the lockdown due to the COVID — 19 made this even worse than before. As of June 10, 2020, the unemployment rate in India is 20.3 % where the urban unemployment stands at 21.2 % and rural unemployment at 19.9 % according to CMIE. Last June, the rate was 7.87 percent. All of this paints a concerning picture of our economy.
Everything came to a halt, all the economic activities stopped worldwide. This has impacted millions of people in India. However, due to the upliftment of the nationwide lockdown in phases, labor participation has increased from 36.2 to 37.6 %. This means that the participants can be further increased.
The huge number of unemployment and millions of lost jobs has forced people to really think of better ways to solve this crisis. The government announced financial aid to the people who were the most affected — the small business, farmers, and lower-wage earners. But is this enough? The tech startups in India don’t think so. One such startup based in Bangalore is finding a way to solve another huge problem which is the byproduct of unemployment — The migration of millions of the workers back to their home.

This will also enhance the relations among the local communities.
LokalPe, a platform is made available for the Local Community in all the parts of India. Be it a remote village in Madhya Pradesh or a small town in Karnataka, everyone can access to this app, find the right work around them.
Lakhs of Migrant workers came back to their homes. They are tackling the plague of unemployment among many other concerns. LokalPe helps them get back on their feet, by helping them get the work they used to do anywhere else, at their local place.
LokalPe is now available on the Android Play Store which is created by keeping the need of the local community in mind. It is available in Hindi and English with a friendly user interface. Everyone can easily understand how to use it.
As a user, one just has to register themselves on this app. Enter the skill such as — Cooking, Photocopying, Accounting, Plumbing, etc.. and create a work profile. Employers / House Hold users who need the services can just open the app and find one near their surroundings.
LokalPe is working towards creating a strong ecosystem for Indians. LokalPe encourages people all across India to provide short term and long term work to their local community. This will in return make each and every skilled/ unskilled worker become a part of the Atmanirbhar and Prosperous Bharat.
The power of the Local communities is understated. By working at the grass-root level, for people who are the backbone of our country will bring a systematic change in the job sector.
